Musical Background: He was the cousin and a direct disciple of Tyagaraja. Region: Manambuchavadi (Maharnombuchavadi), Tanjavur district, Tamilnadu. Contribution: An accomplished singer, he was also a teacher of repute and had the special distinction of having trained the Pancharatnas, the five gems, namely Maha Vaidyanatha Iyer, Patnam Subramanya Iyer, Sarabha Sastri, Tyagaraja, the grandson of the great composer Tyagaraja and Fiddle Venkoba Rao.
