Welcome to Carnatica's Museum.

It is a well-known fact that a lot of India's history is shrouded in mystery, partly because it hasn't been documented well, and partly because some of the documented material isn't available or hasn't been preserved well. This is definitely a matter of great concern to all of us. And it is something that we shouldn't let happen again, especially with all the technology available to us today.

It is in this context that the Museum attains significance. Our aim is to build a nice collection of archival materials - old articles and reviews, photographs, recordings and other interesting stuff - pertaining to the performing arts.

In our collection now, we have a really unique 100-year old recoding of a Violin-Piano duet by Muthu and Mani and we are very happy to share it with you. There are also some interesting audio clippings of legends like S G Kittappa, Maharajapuram Viswanatha Iyer, K B Sundarambal and Rajam Pushpavanam. We have a photo gallery of some very important music, dance and harikatha legends too. Hope you enjoy them.

Admittedly, it is only a small drop in a mighty ocean, but with time, we hope to build it up. So, if you have something of value that you would like to share with us, please send us mail
